About Us

A brief history

During a visit to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe, I met a family there and we started talking. As a retired teacher, I wanted to know about the schools in their village. They took me to see Chidobe Primary School. I asked if the school had books for the library or the classrooms. It was then we decided that we could be of service to this school and community. With my various contacts, I could receive support through people and agencies that could donate or sell books at a low cost. Mr. Mutava contacted the headmistress of the school, Mrs. Tshuma who said, “Any help we could get would be greatly appreciated”. I received approval from my principal, Mrs. Whitten at PTAA to form a school team of students who assisted with the collection of donated books. Thus we began this most important mission Building Bridges to resources in the school and the community. Currently, leadership has changed. BBRidgESZ co-founders are now in communications with: Mr. Mudenda, the Headmaster of Chidobe Primary School and Mr. ???? of Chidobe Secondary School. School support from Texas include Ms. Tara Addison and Mr. Terrance Gassaway, leadership at Pioneer Technology and Arts Academy.

Where we are today

What has your team accomplished? What are you most proud of?
BBBRidgESZ is on its way to helping schools and communities in Zimbabwe and eventually around the globe. We have developed collaborations with leaders of schools to support this project. Mr. Jakaranda Nyasha Mutava is the co-founder and identified contact taking care of all business in Zimbabwe Ms. Cynthia Wheat is in communications with leaders in education and various churches to gain support. Currently, we have an approved application for a 501c3 nonprofit that supports underserved schools in Zimbabwe. We have scheduled appointments with key leaders in education and various churches to propose support for this endeavor.  BBRidgESZ has a group of eight volunteer board members with diverse skills in education and business who are dedicated to support this effort funding underserved schools in communities in Zimbabwe and eventually around the world as the process of forming a nonprofit agency begins to reach a broader range of donors. BBRidgESZ has provided library books to Chidobe Primary School. We have supported teachers through delivery of curriculum

materials for every grade level and every content area to support teaching and learning. BBRidgESZ has also provided laptop computers to Chidobe Secondary School, the administrator, and teachers. Measures are being taken to make sure the school will receive shipments of donated items including 23 boxes of library books. We have begun fundraising events to support this endeavor. We currently have plans in the works to take groups of students on a field trip to explore their country.

We are so excited to think that two families on different sides of the world can join forces on this project to make a huge difference in the schools and community. We are committed to supporting this endeavor with great passion.  BBRidgESZ has the potential to grow into an organization that supports numerous schools and communities. One future goal will be to connect classrooms of children to come together to learn about the world while sharing and learning perspectives with others around the globe.
